At my stampers group meeting this month we were talking about how early Easter falls this year!! We discussed how the date for Easter is determined (to the extent of our knowledge). My friend Debbie went home and did some research and sent the following info to me:Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20th). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar. Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22nd) but that is pretty rare.
This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! Only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years and older), and none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:
* The next time Easter will be this early (March 23rd) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913.
* The next time it will be a day earlier (March 22nd) will be the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22nd was 1818, so no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!
I thought that was pretty interesting information ... random, but interesting!! Now enjoy your Easter weekend knowing you will never have to plan for the Easter Bunny to arrive this early ever again :)

Well we learn something new everyday. I was wondering about this matter! But, then it was suddenly replaced once I looked at my calender and realized that Deep in Digi sign up is tonight! Be good and have a Happy Easter!
While I did know the calendar thing about Easter, I had no idea it was THIS rare to be this early and I'm glad I'm not crazy about HOW early it really feels this year!!!
Thanks for that!
Kari I have found that info very fascinating. Thanks
Very interesting! Yahoo! I like my Easter's in April!!! Maybe Cougar will have a birthday on Easter sometime in his lifetime!!
I won't be around, huh? Well I will show you!! I will be the hottest 200 and something year old around!!
I've been murmuring about how Easter should be in April. Hmmm. I guess you can't fight with the moon.
Gunnar's first birthday was on Easter in 2004, March 27th....and I thought THAT was early! I did hear the fact that we wouldn't see another Easter this early until 2228 and was going to do some more research. But you did it for me! Thx!
That is good to know. I was actually wondering about that. It seemed too early this year.
Very interesting and informing!
